Liv Marit Wedvik (born January 16, 1970 in Skien , died May 23, 2015 in Risør ) was a Norwegian country artist and presenter .
Wedvik album debuted in 2003 with Then he Kissed Me with the record label Showtime Records . The album sold to platinum, but got bad reviews. The sequel Hitchin`A Ride sold to gold and the people got a new favorite. There was some disagreement with the record label Showtime Records on original songs versus cover songs, which eventually led to a break between Showtime Records and Liv Marit Wedvik after the release of “Whatever You Say” who sold badly.
In 2006 she was the presenter of the reality TV series Ville Vesten on TV3 . In the autumn of 2007, she participated in the reality TV series Shall we dance on TV 2 on where she ended up in 5th place.
Liv Marit Wedvik signed a contract with EMI in the spring of 2005. Before that time she had sold more than 100,000 records released on the former company Showtime Records in Skien. Wedvik released “Home Sweet Home” and “Riding Out The Storm” at the big company EMI. The label “gas station queen” disappeared, and most music reviewers agreed that Wedvik had delivered their best records to date. After these two releases, EMI chose to cancel the contract due to weak sales figures despite large TV campaigns.
Liv Marit communicate very well with her audience and was very well liked by everyone she met on her way. One can safely say that she was an very popular and professional artist either it was TV show or concert performances.
Liv Marit continued to perform after EMI periode and there were plans for new releases but the tragic accident put an end to these plans.
Liv Marit was a fully trained dentist assistant in 1993 and had it as a profession besides music career. Wedvik lived in Skien and had two children.
Wedvik died in a drowning accident near Moen camping in Risør, and was buried at Gjerpen church in Skien on June 2, 2015.
