Cato Sanden (born on February 20, 1954 in Bergen, died May 3, 2005). Cato was a Norwegian guitarist, vocalist, composer and producer. From 1974 to 2005, he was a member of country rock band Flying Norwegians. In 1984 he released his debut album «Cato Sanden» after Åge Aleksandersen convinced him that he had good enought song material for this. For this he won the Spellemann Prize 1984 in the roots & country class. Later, Cato Sanden released a number of albums and received several gold records. His second álbum “Living Today” became Norway`s best selling album 1986. On this album was Sanden`s biggest hit «Let`s Go For Freedom». For his third album «Once A Hero», he won the Spelleman Prize 1987 in roots & country. During his career he was a guest musician on many albums, including co-writing with American folk artista Laurie Lewis.

Cato Sanden`s last performence was a reunion concert with Flying Norwegian which took place on April 28, 2005 in Bergen. Five days later, on May 3, Sanden died unexpectedly of a heart attack, aged 51.
